SIAM KUBOTA has revealed it posted operating results of THB 63 billion in 2022 and has set a target to increase the number by 7% to THB 67 billion this year as it marks its 45th anniversary with a vision to make agri-innovations more than agricultural machinery. Every business process is under the concept of becoming an innovation leader that seeks to bring about the “White Agri World” and develops agricultural innovations with responsibility as well as supports a net-zero emissions. As part of this grand celebration, SIAM KUBOTA has also prepared a series of campaigns for customers throughout the year.

Mr. Junji Ota, President of SIAM KUBOTA Corporation Co., Ltd., stated that in 2022, SIAM KUBOTA successfully achieved its performance target and recorded THB 63 billion in sales revenue, with domestic sales accounting for 60% and international sales accounting for the other 40%. The success was owed to the growth of the agricultural sector, driven by external factors such as decent rainfall, rising produce prices, and government policies promoting smart farming for cost reduction and productivity enhancement. Also contributing to the growth were the launch of new products that satisfied technological needs and benefited both customers and society. For the year 2023, SIAM KUBOTA aims to achieve a 7% growth in sales revenue and a total sales target of THB 67 billion.

“Issues of climate change resulting from global warming are beginning to have severe impact on global food productivity. To play a part in solving this problem, SIAM KUBOTA seeks to foster confidence and trust among its customers in its role as a socially responsible company and implement the Global Major Brand (GMB) policy issued by KUBOTA Corporation (Japan) to achieve net-zero emissions in the agricultural sector by 2050, consistent with the government policy.

As we begin our 45th year of operation, we are just as committed as ever to supporting Thailand’s agricultural sector by elevating development and boosting competitiveness on par with other nations for all sectors, from customers and business partners all the way to employees, while accelerating the support of the Thai agricultural sector to become Net Zero in all dimensions from upstream to downstream,” said Mr. Junji Ota.

Ms. Waraporn Osathapan, Senior Executive Vice President, revealed an overview of the situation in Thailand’s agricultural sector in the past year, saying that thanks to the favorable weather, farmers expanded their farming areas and increased productivity. Furthermore, the product price is satisfactory, encouraging farmers to purchase machinery for cultivation and upkeep. Also, the unfolding COVID-19 crisis has caused the world economy to start to recover.

In addition, as a result of the government policy aimed at elevating the Thai agricultural sector and promoting smart farming, or the introduction of technology and innovation to farming management, the overall agricultural machinery market in Thailand increased by 11%, and the GDP of the agricultural sector grew by 2.5%, while the overall agricultural machinery market in Cambodia and Laos grew by 8% due to the government’s support of the production of more agricultural products for export.

SIAM KUBOTA has set their 2023 business direction as follows: 1. Focus on developing products that cover all plant-groups. 2. Expand the modern agricultural innovation business that can truly answer various customer needs by collaborating with Kaset Inno Co., Ltd., startup groups, universities, as well as the government and private sectors. 3. Expand new markets and develop the potential of both domestic and international dealers to support market growth 4. Cooperate with partners to develop a healthy and sustainable agricultural sector 5. Strive for sustainable organization development with ESG and Net Zero Emission policies.

The company has been focusing on developing the organization as well as its products to be environmentally friendly, with the goal of bringing about the White Agri World – a new world of farming that places emphasis on resource efficiency maximization and the responsible development of agro-innovations under the concept “Use Less to Get More for Sustainability.” The key components consist of White Machinery – innovative agricultural machinery; White Solutions – innovative agricultural methods; White Corporation – a white organization that strives towards sustainability where everyone can participate and change their lives and the world for the better.

The key driver for sustainable development is to become the leader in net-zero emissions in agriculture by encouraging the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions to zero both within the organization and in the agricultural sector, including decreasing pollution levels in the production process and products, eco-friendly water and fertilizer management, and developing precision agriculture solutions that reduce carbon emissions by working with government agencies and private partners to scale up the initiatives to the national level.

In the social dimension, the company will scale up projects that enhance the quality of life,  increase income and self-reliant for local communities in accordance with the ESG policy, such as theSIAM KUBOTA Community Enterprise Project, which provides farmers with knowledge and helps them put it to practice to produce tangible results and increase revenue; the KUBOTA and Farmer Cooperation Project, which encourages independent farmers to share agricultural machinery to reduce costs and improve income; and the SIAM KUBOTA Happy Community Project, which seeks to address the issue of poverty, and elevate household income.

Besides, there are plans to improve KUBOTA Farm by presenting low-carbon agriculture solutions and introducing 2 new zones, the “For Earth For Life zone” and the “Post-harvest Management zone” which will serve as an educational center for eco-friendly agriculture, in line with the objective of promoting Net Zero Emission in the agricultural industry.

“To mark the 45th anniversary, SIAM KUBOTA has released a commercial ad entitled “Challenging Agri-World For The Better Living,” showcasing our aspiration to take farmers to their goals on the best path possible with confidence in a rapidly changing world. The term “farmers” here includes traditional farmers looking to adopt farming innovations to fulfill their needs, smart farmers seeking agro-innovations to make their farming practice even smarter, and non-farmers who are interested in agriculture and see new opportunities but lack experience,” said Ms. Waraporn.

Expanding new markets strategy: includes the Non Farmer group (new farmers), targeting those who are interested in agriculture to try out the machine, the High-Value Crop group offers efficiency in terms of doing less but getting more; supporting the expansion of 16% growth by expanding the market for the power tractor with connected devices to work in various tasks, and The group of modern farmers (Smart Farmer) which is the people who are interested in applying more innovations to their own farming that grow by 38%.

2. Farming communities’ sustainability strategy: Encourage them to become Smart Farmers who can access and utilize agricultural machinery effectively rather than using labor, under the “KUBOTA and Farmer Cooperation” project collaboration with 168 community enterprise groups, and provide opportunities for community enterprise members to exchange experiences in agriculture and machinery management and to generate income for the community by using machines for services through KUBOTA activities to connect community networks in the central, northern, and northeastern regions. Last year, we have support processed products development and distribution channels for the model agricultural community in Chiang Rai And prepare to expand the results to 5 more communities this year.
