Dr Krithpaka Boonfueng, Executive Director of the National Innovation Agency (Public Organization) or NIA, stated that developing innovative skills can be learnt from a young age, especially in the Society 5.0 era, where there is integration between the physical world where humans live through all five senses, and the virtual world which integrate technology into every aspect of human life, responding to intelligent living.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robotics are vital technologies in driving this shift, such as using social media for communication, applying technology in homes, cars, financial industries, and in healthcare. The integration of technology into daily life has become essential in every aspect, making innovation skills highly significant for everyone, regardless of their profession.
This year’s National Children’s Day, NIA has designed activities for children to learn innovation skills under the concept ‘I want to be…’ to create experiences and incredibly knowledgeable memories for the new generation, helping them grow into individuals knowledgeable about using innovation skills to lead their lives and pursue their desired careers. The young ones will learn necessary innovation skills, both hard skills (knowledge-based skills) and soft skills (emotional skills), such as learning new things, critical thinking, perseverance, being motivated, observation, creative thinking, integration, practical implementation, teamwork, problem-solving, and persuasive communication skills through STEAM4INNOVATOR.
This learning approach aims to empower youngsters to create works towards becoming innovators based on STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics, encouraging innovative thinking through various engaging activities such as poster displays, correlating professions with skills, and creative application thereof, with numerous prizes awaiting participants.
Furthermore, NIA proudly presents dream professions of the new era, such as UAV businesses, with Top Engineering Corporation, an innovation entrepreneur in the network, organising Paper Plane and Automated AI Drone activities, offering thrilling drone flights and paper plane folding activities, along with teaching cutting-edge techniques for those interested in the aerospace and automated aircraft realms. Additionally, CodeKit Innovation Co Ltd and Plan Creations Co Ltd join hands to offer delightful treats and prizes to further enrich the fun for the youngsters.
Additionally, NIA collaborates with the Yothi Medical Innovation District (YMID), the Department of Disease Control, and Hospital for Tropical Diseases to offer vaccinations for preventing influenza with 4 strains, totaling 1,000 doses, for free of charge, to the public, parents, and children aged 9 and above (accompanied by a guardian) on 12 January 2024 at the NIA office (0900 to 1200 hrs) or at Hospital for Tropical Diseases (1300 to 1500 hrs). Registration can be done at https://form.jotform.com/240072031688048.
