Education Minister Emphasizes External Quality Assessment

The Minister of Education, Pol. Gen. Permpoon Chidchob, has reiterated the importance of external quality assessments in education, particularly those conducted by the Office for National Education Standards and Quality Assessment (Public Organization) (ONESQA). This emphasis aims to establish a robust monitoring mechanism and encourage continuous improvement in educational quality across all institutions.

The Minister highlighted the Ministry’s policy for the 2024 budget year, which is driven by the concept of “Learning Well,Being Happy.” This approach prioritizes student safety, learning opportunities, and collaboration with various networks to enhance students’ life skills.

In addition to safety measures, the Ministry is focusing on creating a supportive learning environment and fostering resilience among students through activities such as home visits and supplementary skill-building programs.Collaboration with relevant agencies is also encouraged to provide students with comprehensive life skills development.

The Minister stressed the importance of evaluating educational outcomes to identify areas for improvement and ensure that future plans and actions are effective. He highlighted the role of ONESQA in conducting external quality assessments to provide valuable feedback and recommendations to educational institutions.

Furthermore, the Minister emphasized the need for continuous development of external assessors’ capabilities, as they play a crucial role in providing constructive feedback and ensuring the effectiveness of the assessment process.

Assessment

To streamline the assessment process, the Ministry has implemented several measures, including reducing the administrative burden on schools, utilizing technology for data collection and reporting, and eliminating unnecessary formalities.

The Minister expressed his hope that ONESQA’s external quality assessments will serve as a mirror reflecting the current state of education, providing valuable data for improving educational quality at both the institutional and national levels.He also expressed his gratitude to the schools for their cooperation and encouraged them to utilize the assessment results for continuous improvement.
