The AI Governance Center (AIGC), under the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA), Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES), celebrates the successful completion of its flagship program, the ‘AI Executive Program (AiX): Digital Healthcare Edition 2’. The program, held from April 19th to June 14th, 2024, attracted a large number of executives and leaders from the healthcare sector, demonstrating a strong interest in learning how to ethically implement AI in their organizations.
Mr. Chaichana Mitrpant, Director of ETDA, emphasized the program’s importance, stating, “This program was designed to meet the needs of executives and leaders in the digital age, where AI is playing an increasingly crucial role across all sectors, especially in healthcare. AI has the potential to significantly enhance the quality of medical and health services. However, it also poses risks that could impact patients and society as a whole if not implemented properly and ethically.”

The second edition of AiX saw enthusiastic participation from executives and leaders representing over 17 leading healthcare organizations, including public and private hospitals, insurance companies, and medical technology firms. This overwhelming response reflects the growing awareness and demand for AI development within the sector.
The program’s comprehensive curriculum covered a wide range of AI-related topics, from fundamental technical knowledge to practical applications of AI in various aspects of the healthcare business, such as disease diagnosis, treatment, hospital management, and the development of new products and services. Participants also had the opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences with AI experts from both Thailand and abroad, as well as visit leading hospitals to observe real-world AI implementations.
A highlight of the program was a special lecture by Professor Dr. Urs Gasser, Dean of the School of Social Sciences and Technology at the Technical University of Munich, Germany, and Chairman of the AIGC International Policy Advisory Panel (IPAP). His lecture, titled “Guardrails: Guiding Human Decisions in the Age of AI,” stressed the importance of human governance and decision-making in an era where AI is increasingly prevalent.
The AiX program not only equipped participants with AI knowledge and skills but also served as a platform for fostering collaboration among various healthcare organizations. This collaborative network is expected to facilitate knowledge exchange and drive AI innovation in Thailand.
The success of the second edition of AiX underscores ETDA’s commitment to propelling Thailand towards becoming a digital and AI leader in the region. This is achieved by enhancing the capabilities of professionals in the business sector and raising awareness about the importance of ethical AI governance.
