TheReporterAsia reports that the National Telecom Public Company Limited (NT) has partnered with the city of Pattaya, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the “5G Pattaya Smart City” project on June 25, 2024, at Pattaya City Hall. The goal is to fully utilize 5G technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT) in city management.

Mr. Poramet Ngampiches, Mayor of Pattaya, stated, “Pattaya has the potential to be a Smart City that attracts tourists from around the world, with its diverse activities and readiness to be a center for meetings and conferences. The collaboration with NT will help elevate Pattaya’s tourism industry to the next level.”
Colonel Sanpachai Huvanant, President and CEO of NT, added, “NT is committed to delivering 5G solutions that meet the needs of Pattaya, utilizing digital infrastructure, 5G networks, and smart city data platforms to create innovative services that benefit both residents and tourists.”
The core of the 5G Pattaya Smart City project is the installation of 90 Smart Poles throughout Pattaya, along with an Intelligent Operation Center (IOC) that will serve as a central hub for managing various city data, including data collection, emergency alerts, and coordination, ensuring efficient city management.
Additionally, NT has installed other communication technologies such as weather sensors, Wi-Fi points, SOS emergency buttons, public announcement systems, smart lighting, and CCTV cameras to enhance convenience and safety for residents and tourists.
The 5G Pattaya Smart City project will enable Pattaya to truly become a smart city, utilizing technology in city management, public services, traffic management, security, and tourism promotion. This will have a positive impact on the economy and the quality of life of the people in the long run.
