Bangkok, June 6, 2024: The excessive accumulation of waste and inefficient waste management are major challenges facing Thailand, particularly at food festivals, which often generate a massive amount of trash. Recognizing this issue,WP Energy initiated the “World Gas ZERO WASTE You Throw, We Turn” project to raise awareness and promote sustainable waste management practices at food festivals.
Ms. Chomkamol Poompanmuang, CEO of WP Energy, stated, “This project stems from our commitment to making a positive impact on society. We want everyone to be aware of the waste problem and collaborate to minimize waste as much as possible.”
The “World Gas ZERO WASTE You Throw, We Turn” project emphasizes waste separation at the source by providing “Food Waste Stations” equipped with clearly labeled bins for different types of waste: recyclables, food scraps, and general waste. Additionally, “Green Mentors” are present to guide and educate festival attendees on proper waste sorting.

A notable aspect of this project is its focus on utilizing waste in a practical manner. Recyclable materials are sent to the “Won Project” for recycling and further use. Food waste is converted into animal feed, while non-recyclable waste is disposed of responsibly.
“We believe this project will significantly reduce the amount of waste that needs to be disposed of while also generating value from waste,” added Ms. Chomkamol.
WP Energy has piloted this project at food festivals the company sponsors, such as the “Lin Tid Pro” and “Priew Pak” shows, with plans to expand to other food festivals in the future.
Expected Positive Impacts:
- Waste Reduction: The project is expected to significantly reduce the amount of waste generated at food festivals.
- Value Creation from Waste: Recyclable waste will be utilized, generating income and reducing waste management costs.
- Awareness Raising: The project will raise awareness about waste issues and promote sustainable waste management practices in society.
