Mr. Somchai Lertsutthiwong, CEO of AIS, emphasized the significance of the occasion: “These activities are a testament to our deep respect and appreciation for His Majesty the King’s unwavering dedication to the Thai people. We are proud to utilize digital technology to create positive impacts on society and the environment.”
The celebratory events encompassed three main components:
- Buddhist Chanting Ceremony: A traditional ceremony to offer blessings and well wishes to His Majesty the King.
- Blood Donation Drive: In collaboration with the Thai Red Cross Society, AIS employees, the public, and partners were encouraged to donate blood as a gesture of goodwill.
- “E-Waste for Trees” Initiative: This unique program encouraged environmental awareness by allowing participants to exchange electronic waste (e-waste) for tree saplings, fostering green spaces throughout the community.
The “E-Waste for Trees” initiative aligns with AIS’s ongoing “Thais Without E-Waste” project, which aims to raise awareness and promote responsible e-waste management. AIS collaborates with partners to establish standardized e-waste disposal centers, contributing to a more sustainable future.
“AIS is committed to driving Thailand towards a sustainable digital society,” said Mr. Somchai. “We believe that technology can improve the lives of Thai people while benefiting society and the environment.”
