Health Link, a platform connecting the health data of over 67 million Thais, is set to revolutionize Thailand’s healthcare system. Korat province is leading the way in this nationwide integration, aiming to enhance treatment efficiency, reduce disparities, and boost the overall capacity of Thai healthcare.
The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DES) is spearheading the Health Link initiative, hoping to elevate medical care, streamline access to health information, and alleviate the financial burden on the country’s healthcare system. This platform is a key component of the City Data Platform, a central hub for connecting, integrating, and analyzing data at the provincial level.

Korat Model: A Blueprint for Health Data Integration
Recently, the DES’s Big Data Institute (BDI) visited Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat) to assess the progress of the Health Link project. Korat is the pilot province for this initiative, collaborating with the National Health Security Office (NHSO) Region 9 and Suranaree Camp Hospital to connect the Health Link system across all service levels, from primary to tertiary care. This data will be integrated into the City Data Platform, which compiles health information, including cross-hospital medical histories, community health databases, and data from various healthcare providers, for analysis and utilization in public health management at the provincial level.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tiranee Achalakul, Director of BDI, remarked, “The integration of health data in Korat is a significant step in advancing Thailand’s healthcare system. It will ensure equitable access to healthcare services for the people of Korat and enhance the efficiency of healthcare management, reduce redundant testing, and lower medical costs.”
Dr. Sawitree Visanuyothin, M.D., Director of NHSO Region 9 Nakhon Ratchasima, added, “The collaboration between NHSO and BDI in utilizing the Health Link platform elevates medical services and improves accessibility for the public.Seamless health data integration will facilitate the distribution of services to primary care facilities, effectively reducing the burden on major hospitals. This will streamline treatment and patient transfers between hospitals, aligning with the ‘one ID card for all treatments’ policy.”
Health Link is more than just a data integration platform; it’s a crucial tool in propelling Thailand’s healthcare system forward. Its goal is to connect health data for the entire nation, empowering medical professionals with the information they need to provide efficient and accurate care.
