A key highlight of the CROSSROADS Maldives project is the SINGHA Marine Conservation Area initiative. This initiative, conducted in collaboration with the Maldivian Ministry of Climate Change, Environment & Energy, encompasses a 3.15 square kilometer marine zone known for its rich biodiversity. The conservation efforts focus on protecting endangered species and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the marine ecosystem.

The UN Ocean Decade Regional Conference, where CROSSROADS Maldives was showcased, brought together global experts to discuss sustainable ocean preservation. It highlighted Thailand’s potential as a leader in marine science and emphasized the importance of private sector collaboration in marine conservation.

Assist.Prof.Dr. Thon Thamrongnawasawat, Deputy Dean at Kasetsart University, stressed the need for active engagement from the private sector, stating, “It goes beyond merely supporting research; it involves fostering scientific knowledge, collaborating with communities, and ensuring the sustainable preservation of resources for future generations.”
