AIS Pioneers Southeast Asia’s AI Revolution with GPU-as-a-Service

Bangkok, Thailand – In a landmark move set to reshape Southeast Asia’s technological landscape, AIS, Thailand’s leading telecom provider, has announced the launch of its groundbreaking GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) offering. This strategic initiative, forged in collaboration with Singtel and Bridge Alliance, aims to democratize access to high-performance computing power, empowering businesses across the region to harness the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI).

The GPUaaS model, the first of its kind in Southeast Asia, will provide enterprises with on-demand access to NVIDIA’s cutting-edge AI computing capabilities. This eliminates the need for substantial upfront investments in expensive hardware, enabling businesses of all sizes to deploy AI solutions at scale, accelerating innovation and driving growth.

The partnership’s significance is underscored by the participation of major telecom operators in Malaysia and Indonesia,Maxis and Telkomsel, respectively. Their involvement highlights the growing recognition of AI’s pivotal role in shaping the future of business across Southeast Asia.

The launch of AIS’s GPUaaS is poised to unlock tremendous economic value for the region. Studies suggest that widespread AI adoption could contribute nearly US$1 trillion to the Southeast Asian economy by 2030. Recognizing AI’s transformative power, governments across the region have launched national AI roadmaps, aiming to harness the technology responsibly and to its fullest potential.

The collaboration with Singtel and Bridge Alliance provides a robust framework for delivering GPUaaS across Southeast Asia. Singtel’s GPUaaS offerings will be accessible to Bridge Alliance member operators, ensuring widespread availability. As demand for GPU capabilities grows, additional GPU clusters will be deployed in various countries, facilitating seamless scalability for businesses. Bridge Alliance will play a key role in assisting member operators in accelerating their go-to-market strategies and driving the successful adoption of GPUaaS among enterprises.

“AI technology has been rapidly and widely adopted by various industries to enhance and accelerate their business transformation,” stated Mr. Phupa Akavipat, acting Chief Enterprise Business Officer of AIS. “Providing AI with Cloud ‘GPU as-a-Service’ model will enable them to embrace the technology efficiently and scalably. AIS strongly believes that the GPUaaS by Singtel and Bridge Alliance with AIS capability will co-create sustainable digital economy value to be captured by businesses in Thailand.”

Mr. Bill Chang, CEO of Singtel’s Digital InfraCo unit, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the partnership’s potential to democratize AI access and accelerate its use across all industries. “This reinforces our goal of being a catalyst for innovation and supporting the digital transformation of Southeast Asia’s digital economies,” he affirmed.

Singtel’s patented Paragon platform, which orchestrated a multi-edge compute and NVIDIA GPU environment during the 5G@Sentosa trials, has already demonstrated the power of bringing AI to the 5G edge. With the wider deployment of 5G networks, the combination of real-time AI and GPUaaS at the 5G edge is expected to be a significant growth driver for enterprise businesses.

Dr. Ong Geok Chwee, CEO of Bridge Alliance, emphasized the alliance’s commitment to delivering the benefits of GPUaaS and AI computing to enterprise customers across its member operators’ markets. The initiative underscores the value of the Bridge Alliance ecosystem as a preferred solution partner in driving optimization and innovation, particularly for multinational companies.

The CEOs of Maxis and Telkomsel also expressed their enthusiasm for the partnership. Mr. Goh Seow Eng of Maxis highlighted the cost-efficiency and flexibility that GPUaaS will offer businesses in Malaysia, enabling them to access high-performance computing and scale their resources on demand. Mr. Wong Soon Nam of Telkomsel emphasized the ease with which Indonesian enterprises can now accelerate their AI adoption, leveraging cutting-edge infrastructure for scalability and cost efficiency.

At launch, Singtel’s GPUaaS will be powered by NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPU-powered clusters, with plans to be among the first to launch NVIDIA’s next-generation GB200 AI Servers. The service will further expand across Singapore,Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia when Nxera, Singtel’s regional data centre business, begins operations in mid-2025.

AIS’s pioneering launch of GPU-as-a-Service marks a watershed moment in Southeast Asia’s technological evolution. By democratizing access to AI capabilities, this initiative is poised to fuel innovation, drive economic growth, and position the region at the forefront of the global AI revolution.
