AIS Prepares to Issue the First Sustainability Bonds in Thai Telco

Bangkok – AIS, or Advanced Info Service Public Company Limited, has announced its readiness to offer ‘Sustainability Bonds‘ to the general public. The subscription period is expected to open in November 2024. This marks the first time in the Thai telecommunications industry that such bonds have been issued.

AIS Sustainability Bonds are available in two terms: 4 years and 7 years. The proceeds will be used to fund projects related to energy efficiency and the expansion of the 5G network nationwide, particularly in remote areas. AIS Sustainability Bonds have been assigned a credit rating of “AAA(tha)” by Fitch Ratings (Thailand) Limited,reflecting the company’s strong business fundamentals and stable financial position. Mr. Montri Khongkruephan, Chief Financial Officer of AIS, said, “The issuance of these Sustainability Bonds will strengthen and create long-term growth for AIS, particularly in the development of digital infrastructure, such as the 5G network and high-speed internet, which are crucial foundations for Thailand’s digital economy.”

Strong Financial Performance

In the first half of 2024, AIS reported total service revenue of 79,665 million baht, an 18% increase compared to the same period last year. Net profit reached 17,028 million baht, a 22% growth, reflecting the company’s growth potential.
