Shanghai, China – At Huawei Connect 2024, David Wang, Executive Director and Chairman of the ICT Infrastructure Executive Committee of Huawei, delivered a keynote speech on “Amplifying Industrial Digitalization and Intelligence.” Wang shared Huawei’s perspectives and experiences in helping various industries transition to the digital and intelligent era, along with launching the latest solutions for intelligent industries to facilitate the deep integration of AI into various industrial scenarios.

The Path to the Digital and Intelligent Era
Currently, the Fourth Industrial Revolution is being driven by digital and intelligent technologies and is expected to lead to new levels of productivity. Huawei has identified a four-step path that countries can follow when they want to move towards the digital and intelligent era, with each step building on the previous one.
Wang pointed out that innovation will be key to addressing the challenges and opportunities arising from this process. He said technological innovation is needed to build efficient infrastructure, situational innovation is needed to help more people bridge the digital divide, and ecosystem innovation is needed to create a bright future for all.
Innovative Digital and Intelligent Infrastructure for Connectivity, Storage, Computing, Cloud, and Energy
Huawei is building the infrastructure of the future using system-level innovation in five key domains: connectivity,storage, computing, cloud, and energy. In intelligent connectivity, Huawei uses high data transmission capabilities to accelerate agile cloud migration and on-demand intelligence. In future-proof storage, the company creates tailored data supply for large-scale intelligence. In computing, the company works with partners to build a strong computing backbone and a complete industrial ecosystem with Kunpeng and Ascend to offer the world an alternative. In the cloud, Huawei is building industry-tailored clouds and creating fertile ground for industrial, digital, and intelligent transformation. Huawei is also working hard to build green energy infrastructure to power the digital world.
Launch of CANN 8.0 and the Latest openMind Application Enablement Suite for a Thriving Computing Industry Ecosystem
Over the past five years, Huawei has developed two computing businesses: Kunpeng for general-purpose computing and Ascend for AI computing to create an alternative for the world. To date, Huawei has worked with 7,600 partners and 6.35 million developers to develop more than 20,000 industry solutions within these ecosystems.
Kunpeng has been widely adopted in core scenarios in many industries, such as public services, finance,telecommunications, and electric power. Currently, openEuler is the leader in the Chinese server operating system market,with a 36.8% market share. openEuler also has more than 3.5 million downloads, serving users in over 150 countries.
Ascend has also created open and easy-to-use products for training and inference, including hardware, software, end-to-end toolkits, and the CANN hardware enablement architecture. These products are used to accelerate the development and innovation of parallel algorithms, models, and applications.
Huawei launched the latest CANN 8.0 at the event today. CANN is the foundation of the Ascend ecosystem as it supports more than 200 new basic operators for deep customization, 80 mixed operators, and 100 APIs for communication and matrix multiplication. CANN 8.0 reduces the development time of mixed operators from 2 person-months to 1.5 person-weeks, accelerating Ascend-native innovation.
Huawei also launched the openMind application enablement suite, which will be open to companies to accelerate their AI innovation. This suite will help companies quickly build their AI communities and create a thriving ecosystem.
Wang explained that Huawei is working hard to build Kunpeng-native and Ascend-native ecosystems. He announced that Huawei would invest 1 billion yuan per year in Kunpeng-native and Ascend-native development projects, and in the next three years, it would develop more than 1,500 Kunpeng-native and Ascend-native application partners.

In 2023, Huawei launched a reference architecture for intelligent transformation that they used to develop more than 200 industry solutions. These solutions have been widely deployed, and Huawei has defined several usage patterns for digital and intelligent transformation.
