The theft of equipment such as lithium batteries, cables, and other essential components from mobile signal towers has caused significant service disruptions, particularly in the Eastern and Northeastern regions. This has impacted customers’ ability to use mobile phones for basic communication, online transactions, business, and education, causing widespread public inconvenience.
True Corporation has authorized the law firm B and L to represent them in filing complaints with the police in various affected areas. They are providing evidence to aid in further investigation and prosecution.
Mr. Rittiron Preodprom, an attorney from B and L representing True Corporation, stated, “These thefts have a severe impact on mobile network services, which are critical digital infrastructure. Base stations are forced to shut down temporarily due to power supply disruptions, preventing many people from using mobile phones. This affects essential communication, daily app usage, business, online transactions, and education, causing significant public inconvenience.”
The legal firm will pursue criminal charges for theft, emphasizing the severity of the offenses, regardless of whether committed by individuals or groups, using vehicles, or at night. These acts fall under Section 335 of the Penal Code, punishable by up to 7 years in prison and fines up to 100,000 baht, or both. These criminal charges cannot be settled, and civil claims for damages will be pursued to the fullest extent.
True Corporation, in collaboration with B and L, is committed to working closely with the police to investigate and apprehend all those involved in the thefts. They aim to dismantle operations dealing with stolen equipment, both in physical black markets and online platforms.
Mr. Rittiron also cautioned consumers, “Be careful when buying second-hand equipment, especially lithium batteries commonly used with home solar systems. Purchase from reputable sellers and verify the product’s origin to avoid inadvertently buying stolen goods.”
True Corporation remains resolute in pursuing legal action against the offenders to protect its customers and maintain service quality. They urge the public to report any suspicious activity or information related to the theft or sale of suspicious equipment.
