Synology Unveils 4 New Solutions to Combat Rising Ransomware

Bangkok, Thailand – Synology, a global leader in data storage and protection solutions, has highlighted two key trends transforming the business world in 2024: the surge in ransomware attacks and the growing adoption of on-premise productivity tools to enhance data security.

Mr. Rahat Buntanchin, Country Sales Manager of Synology Thailand, revealed that “Ransomware continues to rise rapidly worldwide, with the average number of attacks per organization increasing by 22% per week. This leads to organizations spending weeks or even months recovering data, and even those who pay the ransom cannot guarantee full data recovery. Statistics show that 71% of attacked organizations are unable to fully recover their data. This makes having a comprehensive and efficient data protection system crucial in mitigating the risk of cyberattacks.”

Furthermore, organizations worldwide are turning to on-premise productivity tools, which are software applications installed and run on servers or computers within the organization itself, alongside cloud SaaS, instead of relying solely on cloud-based services. This shift aims to prevent data breaches, as a report by Varonis indicates that 81% of organizations experienced data breaches in 2022.

“Using on-premise productivity tools effectively reduces this risk, as it allows for granular control over data access and also helps reduce data management costs in the long run,” added Mr. Rahat.

To address these challenges, Synology has launched four new solutions in 2024 designed for comprehensive data storage and protection, leveraging AI to enhance data management efficiency and security.

Solution highlights for 2024 include:

  1. Data Storage and Management: Scale-out solution supports expansion up to 96 nodes and accommodates both file storage and object storage. This platform is designed for continuous operation without interruption, with support for Synology Drive and Office to enable smooth and efficient workflows.

  2. Data Protection: New Active Protect Appliances simplify data protection, supporting up to 2,500 servers across multiple sites globally. It features comprehensive data retention policies and a backup system that reduces data duplication and enhances backup efficiency.

  3. Surveillance: Surveillance Station simplifies multi-site surveillance management from a single control center. AI features enhance property security, and new camera models like FC600, BC800Z, CC400W, and Direct to Cloud cameras have been introduced.

  4. Productivity with AI: Synology Office Suite, a comprehensive collaboration solution integrating tools like Synology Drive, Synology Office, MailPlus, and Chat, now integrates with Synology AI Console to boost team efficiency within organizations, all usable on-premise.

“Over the past five years, Synology has seen a 150% market value growth in Southeast Asia (SEA), with an estimated value exceeding 45 million USD in the SEA market this year,” said Mr. Rahat.

Synology remains confident in the potential of the Thai market, recognizing continuous growth opportunities from the expansion of digital businesses and the government’s acceleration of Digital Transformation initiatives. This highlights the importance of data management in the digital age, especially in addressing the ever-increasing cyber threats, leading to a surge in demand for data protection.
