Dr. Tyn Tawitranon, Chief Executive Officer, Digital Business Services, Thailand Post, disclosed that the company is undertaking a significant upgrade of its “THP CORE” system, the backbone of Thailand Post’s IT infrastructure. This investment of over 800 million baht aims to modernize the system to accommodate the growth of e-commerce and effectively meet the needs of customers in the digital age.
This system revamp covers key operational areas, including deposit, forwarding, delivery, front-counter services, payment, top-up, and parcel tracking systems. The goal is to enhance speed, accuracy, and operational efficiency while elevating customer service.
A highlight of this development is the integration of AI technology to optimize operational processes. This includes utilizing AI for data analysis to improve parcel delivery efficiency and reduce logistics costs, as well as leveraging AI for customer data management to offer services tailored to individual needs.
“Our legacy systems were developed in a fragmented manner, resulting in operational inefficiencies and an inability to fully support the growth of e-commerce. Therefore, we needed to invest in developing a new system to accommodate future growth,” said Dr. Trin.
Beyond IT system development, Thailand Post is prioritizing employee development to adapt to the digital transformation. A dedicated “Change & Transform” team has been established to lead this effort, ensuring employees are equipped to utilize the new systems through training programs and various courses to enhance their digital skills and knowledge.
“This transformation is a significant undertaking, which may affect some employees. However, we are confident that this change will elevate our service quality and enhance Thailand Post’s competitiveness in the digital era sustainably,” added Dr. Trin.
Thailand Post expects the IT system upgrade to be finalized within 2023. The final phase of system testing is underway, with a full launch anticipated in the first quarter of next year. This is projected to increase operational efficiency by at least 5% and further improve the speed and accuracy of parcel delivery.
