AIS launches a creative campaign inviting Thais to donate this month of love by transforming electronic waste (E-Waste) into high-speed internet for children in remote areas, fostering educational opportunities, reducing the digital divide, and driving Thailand towards sustainability.
Bangkok, February 14, 2028 – On the occasion of the month of love, Advanced Info Service Public Company Limited (AIS) continues its mission for society and the environment sustainably. It is launching the “Turn E-Waste into Internet for Kids” campaign, inviting Thais to transform electronic waste into educational opportunities by providing high-speed internet to schools in remote areas across the country.
This campaign’s main goal is to reduce the amount of electronic waste, which is a global environmental problem, while promoting equal access to digital technology and reducing the educational gap for youth in remote areas. For every piece of E-Waste disposed of, it will be converted into 1 GB of high-speed internet for schools in communities under the Green Energy Green Network for THAIs project.
Saichon Submakudom, Head of Public Relations and Business Relations Business Unit at AIS, said about the campaign’s origins: “AIS has always prioritized the systematic management of electronic waste. We are committed to being a ‘Hub of E-Waste,’ a center for managing electronic waste with international standards. The ‘Turn E-Waste into Internet for Kids’ campaign is another of our efforts to add value to E-Waste disposal. In addition to helping to protect the environment, it also provides educational opportunities for students in remote areas to access the internet for education, which is in line with our sustainable development policy of Digital Inclusion.”
The six pilot schools that will receive internet from this campaign are: Ban Nong Bua School, Ban Dok Mai Sot Branch, and Mae Fah Luang Learning Center for Hill Tribe Communities, Ban Moko Poki, Tak Province; Mae Fah Luang Learning Center for Hill Tribe Communities, Ban Khun Kong, Lamphun Province; Ban Mae Khong School, Chiang Mai Province; Ban Mae Mong Yao School, Chiang Rai Province; and Ban Mae To La School, Mae Hong Son Province. These schools are all in remote areas that still lack access to digital technology.
The donated internet will be used for teaching and learning, and to promote reading among students through E-Books on the AIS ReadDi Digital Library platform, which is another AIS social project aimed at promoting access to knowledge for Thais.
The “Turn E-Waste into Internet for Kids” campaign is a collaboration between AIS and over 235 partner organizations, who have jointly established more than 2,700 E-Waste collection points across the country, including all AIS Shops, making it easy and convenient for the public to access E-Waste disposal points.
AIS sincerely hopes that this campaign will be well-received by Thais and can create a positive change for both the environment and Thai society sustainably. The “Turn E-Waste into Internet for Kids” campaign will accept electronic waste disposal from today until December 31, 2028.
Collaboration for a Sustainable Society and Environment
The Green Energy Green Network for THAIs project, under which the “Turn E-Waste into Internet for Kids” campaign operates, is a collaboration between AIS, GULF, and the Highland Research and Development Institute (HRDI). It demonstrates the commitment of the private sector and government agencies to jointly address environmental problems and reduce inequality in Thai society.
This project not only promotes the use of clean solar energy to generate electricity for schools in remote areas, but it also creates a high-speed internet network so that communities can access information and educational opportunities equally.
AIS’s Commitment to Being a Hub of E-Waste
In addition to the “Turn E-Waste into Internet for Kids” campaign, AIS continues to drive its mission to be a “Hub of E-Waste.” It aims to be a comprehensive center for electronic waste management, from raising awareness, collection, sorting, and proper recycling.
AIS believes that proper electronic waste management not only helps reduce the impact on the environment, but it also creates added value for this waste and can be reused, which promotes the concept of a circular economy, which is a key element of sustainable development.
Future of the Campaign and Expansion
AIS plans to expand the “Turn E-Waste into Internet for Kids” campaign to other areas in the future to cover more schools and communities that still lack access to digital technology.
In addition, AIS remains committed to developing and introducing new innovations related to electronic waste management to respond to the needs of society and the environment as effectively as possible.
The “Turn E-Waste into Internet for Kids” campaign by AIS sets a precedent as an initiative that tangibly benefits both society and the environment. It seamlessly integrates Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) with core business operations.
The participation of every Thai citizen in responsibly disposing of electronic waste will be a crucial force in propelling Thailand towards a sustainable digital society, reducing inequality, and creating equal opportunities for all.
