AIS has secured the Autonomous Network Operator Leadership Award at the FutureNet Asia Awards 2026 for the fourth consecutive year, marking sustained progress in embedding artificial intelligence and automation into telecom network operations. The recognition highlights the operator’s structured roadmap toward Autonomous Network Levels 4 and 5, establishing intelligent digital infrastructure to support Thailand’s broader digital economy and AI ecosystem.

Scaling 5G-Advanced and Nationwide Metro Coverage

A central technical milestone in this transformation is the deployment of Southeast Asia’s first 5G-Advanced network, integrating artificial intelligence with 3CC and 2CC carrier aggregation technologies. These implementations are engineered to deliver faster data rates, accommodate elevated usage density, and support next-generation digital applications.

AIS has deployed its 5G Uplink 2CC network across the 2600 MHz and 700 MHz spectrum bands to deliver 100% coverage across the Bangkok metropolitan area, establishing Bangkok as the world’s first metropolis with comprehensive citywide coverage of the technology. Network availability has also been expanded across the municipal capital districts of all 77 provinces nationwide, increasing transmission capacity and technical readiness for higher tiers of autonomous management.

Enterprise AI Integration and Self-Healing Systems

The operator is transitioning daily network operations toward closed-loop automated routines, combining predictive fault management with dynamic optimization. Mr. Wasit Wattanasap, Head of Nationwide Operations and Support Business Unit at AIS, noted that modern infrastructure must advance past simple connectivity to serve as an intelligent foundation capable of supporting digital workflows in the AI era. He explained that AIS applies AI models to diagnose customer service issues at their root cause, enabling rapid remediation and automatic correction of anomalies.

The platform dynamically adjusts operating parameters in response to real-time network conditions and shifting data traffic patterns. According to Wattanasap, this framework focuses on driving enterprise operational efficiency, safeguarding service uptime, and elevating end-user experience while preparing the carrier for emerging AI applications.

Industry Benchmark and Technology Collaboration

Organized by global network automation forum FutureNet World, the FutureNet Asia Awards evaluate telecommunications operators based on strategic vision, leadership, and operational scale toward Autonomous Network Levels 4 and 5. AIS’s recognition reflects enterprise-grade deployments of AI workflows and automated operational controls across its live network.

The technological progress is supported by joint research and infrastructure development in collaboration with Huawei, focusing on systematic automation and responsive network design. AIS currently operates across 1,460 MHz of total spectrum bandwidth, delivering mobile services to 47.1 million subscribers alongside its fixed broadband and enterprise infrastructure businesses.
