Ericsson Announces Full-Throttle Drive to Propel Thailand into Digital Economy

Ericsson has declared its readiness to push Thailand towards a Digital Economy with four key strategies. The company also launched the 5G Innovation & Experience Studio to cultivate 5G innovations for Thailand’s future.

Mr. Anders Rian, President of Ericsson (Thailand) Co., Ltd., announced a proactive strategy to drive Thailand into a full-fledged Digital Economy, emphasizing the importance of 5G technology as a crucial infrastructure to unlock the country’s economic and social potential.

“Ericsson is strongly committed to being a key partner for Thailand in its journey towards a Digital Economy,” said Rian.”We believe that 5G will be a major catalyst in transforming Thailand into a regional innovation and technology hub.”

5G: The Path to Thailand 4.0

Rian mentioned the rapid growth of 5G technology worldwide, with over 298 active 5G networks and a trend of continuous growth in the future. Ericsson itself is a leader in providing 5G services, with 162 active 5G networks covering 69 countries worldwide. In particular, 5G Standalone (SA) networks, considered true 5G networks, have been activated or are under installation in 49 networks globally.

For Thailand, the growth of 5G has also been rapid. Currently, all three mobile network operators (AIS, TrueMove H,dtac) offer commercial 5G services covering most of the country. Additionally, the number of 5G users in Thailand is expected to increase continuously in the next few years.

“Thailand has the potential to be a leader in the Digital Economy in the region,” Rian added. “By investing in 5G infrastructure and developing digital skills for the population, we believe that Thailand can overcome existing limitations and create new opportunities in the digital age.”

Ericsson Thailand 5G Innovation & Experience Studio: A Hub for 5G Innovation

To support the development of 5G in Thailand, Ericsson launched the Ericsson Thailand 5G Innovation & Experience Studio at the Thailand Digital Valley project, the country’s new digital innovation center.

“This 5G Innovation & Experience Studio is a testament to our commitment to supporting Thailand in its digital transformation,” said Rian. “We want this center to be a space for experimentation and creation of 5G innovations that will help improve the quality of life for Thai people and drive the country’s economy.”

Ericsson has placed importance on building collaborations with both the public and private sectors to drive Thailand’s Digital Economy. The company has partnered with the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa) in developing the Thailand Digital Valley project and has also collaborated with major mobile network operators to expand 5G networks nationwide.

“Collaboration is key to building a strong and sustainable Digital Economy,” Rian said. “We are ready to work with all sectors to create a digital future for Thailand.”

Four Key Strategies for Digital Economy

  1. Digital Infrastructure: Investing in comprehensive and efficient 5G infrastructure.
  2. Digital Skills: Developing digital skills for the Thai workforce.
  3. Digital Ecosystem: Creating an ecosystem conducive to the growth of digital businesses.
  4. Digital Trust and Security: Building trust and security in the use of digital technology.

Rehn believes that 5G will be a major catalyst in creating new business opportunities in Thailand, especially in the Industry 4.0 sector, which utilizes advanced technology in the production of goods and services.

Furthermore, 5G will help improve the quality of life for Thai people in various aspects, such as education, healthcare, and communication. Ericsson is strongly committed to supporting Thailand in its journey towards a Digital Economy with clear strategies and continuous investment. The opening of the Ericsson Thailand 5G Innovation & Experience Studio is proof of this commitment and a significant step in creating a digital future for Thailand.
