AIS 2Q2024 Net Profit Hits ฿8.6 Billion, Boosted by Tourism Boom

Bangkok – AIS, Thailand’s leading telecommunications provider, announced its Q2 2024 financial results with total revenue of ฿51,332 million and a net profit of ฿8,577 million. The strong growth was attributed to key factors including the recovery of the tourism sector and the expansion of 5G and high-speed home internet services.

Mr. Somchai Lertsutiwong, CEO of AIS, stated, “The continuous growth in this quarter reflects the success of our strategy focused on providing the best customer experience through a quality network and diverse services that meet the needs of consumers in the digital age.”

5G Captures Hearts: Over 10 Million Subscribers

A highlight of the quarter was the significant growth in 5G users, currently surpassing 10.6 million, a 36% increase year-on-year. AIS continues to expand its 5G network, now covering over 95% of the population nationwide.

“Continuous investment in digital infrastructure, including the 5G network, home internet, and various digital services, is key to AIS maintaining its market leadership and achieving sustainable growth,” added Mr. Somchai.

AIS Fibre Continues to Attract Customers

The high-speed home internet business, AIS Fibre, also showed remarkable growth, with 4.9 million subscribers, an increase of 66,900 in this quarter. This reflects the increasing demand for broadband internet.

“We aim to develop AIS Fibre beyond just a home internet provider but to become a Digital Life Service Provider that caters to every lifestyle of Thai people,” said Mr. Somchai.

Partners with Oracle to Tap into the Cloud Market

AIS also announced a significant partnership with Oracle, a global leader in cloud technology, to launch AIS Cloud. This will enable businesses in Thailand to access world-class cloud services more easily.

“This collaboration with Oracle is a crucial step in driving the digital transformation of Thai businesses,” said Mr.Somchai.

With positive factors such as economic recovery and continuous investment in new technologies, AIS is confident in maintaining strong growth momentum in the second half of 2024.
