Yuer Leon, the Animation Director and Designer Lead at Think Tank, initially had doubts about using AI for artistic creation. He worried that seeking faster, high-quality outputs would devalue human artistry. But after collaborating with AI tools, his perspective shifted.
“At first, we saw AI as a competitor,” Leon explains. “But we gradually learned to view it as an aide to expand our wildest imaginations to their fullest potential. AI amplifies human creativity, but it’s not all-powerful on its own. It still needs our input and guidance to reach its loftiest heights.”
The film from directors Think Tank in Kuala Lumpur metaphorically depicts this creative odyssey. A protagonist seeking inspiration ventures into the uncharted realm of AI’s vast possibilities. The evolving, genre-blending soundscape composed by Black Cat White Cat in Tokyo sonically represents this journey.
“The music begins in frenzied chaos, reflecting the overwhelming influx of AI-generated options and ideas,” describes Erik Reiff, Black Cat White Cat‘s Chief Creative Officer. “But as our hero gains confidence navigating this space, structure emerges. The composition distills into a serene beat – symbolic of the realization that true creative power comes from the human spirit skillfully wielding these technological tools.”
Ultimately, the film reminds us that while AI can expand our creative frontiers, human intuition remains essential to harnessing its full potential. As Leon summarizes, “AI augments rather than replaces our artistic expression when both human and machine intelligence harmoniously unite.”
