Bangkok, Thailand – November 29, 2024 – The Center for Morality Promotion (CMP), a public organization under Thailand’s Ministry of Culture, has announced the launch of the Moral Data Center, a pioneering initiative aimed at establishing a central platform for moral digital repository. This innovative platform will collect, organize, and utilize moral information to enhance efficiency, expand data repositories, and integrate moral data in collaboration with networks and partner organizations. The Moral Data Center is the first of its kind in Thailand, positioning itself as the leading “Moral Data Hub” in the country.

Ms. Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol, Thailand’s Minister of Culture, stated, “The application of digital technology to the realm of morality by CMP is a significant step that creates an ecosystem fostering the expansion of morality promotion on a larger scale.” She emphasized that this initiative will contribute to the moral development of Thai society across the nation.
Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul, Chairman of CMP, highlighted the role of the Moral Data Center as a mirror reflecting societal values, inspiring all sectors to take action and collectively build a morally enriched Thai society. The Center will act as a bridge between research and practical application, aggregating moral data from various sectors, from organizations to individuals. By presenting data through visualizations, it will provide clear insights into regional moral trends and situations, making it easy to understand and accessible.
The Moral Data Center will address the issues of fragmented and redundant information by unlocking the full potential of data usage. It aims to foster tangible moral development through accurate, up-to-date, and reliable information. It will connect knowledge with practice, offering a platform for idea exchange, a valuable data repository for all sectors, and an inspiration for everyone to work together in creating a better, more harmonious Thai society. Ultimately, it aspires to pave the way for a sustainable moral society.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suriyadeo Tripathi, Director of CMP, explained that the Moral Data Center is a product of findings from surveys on the state of morality in Thai society. This online platform serves as Thailand’s first-ever digital moral information hub, collecting, organizing, and utilizing moral data to enhance the efficiency and scalability of future data repositories. It also integrates information from diverse sources and collaborates with networks and partner organizations to create a comprehensive and connected database.
The platform is designed to be accessible to people of all ages and genders through various channels, delivering tangible and actionable moral insights. By presenting morality as measurable behaviors rather than abstract concepts, it redefines how morality is understood and experienced, making it a reality that can be observed and validated in everyday life.
Over its 13 years of promoting morality, CMP has amassed a wealth of valuable data, including reports on moral trends, the Moral Behavioral Index, and Life Asset Positive Model. It has also gathered information on experts and advocates driving moral initiatives, exemplary individuals, communities, and organizations recognized for their moral achievements. In addition, the Center has compiled moral knowledge resources and self-assessment or organizational tools for measuring morality. The platform has the potential to integrate with central government platforms, such as the Open Government Data Center and the Government Data Exchange (GDX). This integration enables agencies and organizations to better understand the moral state of Thai society, exchange nationally recognized research data, and utilize this information for effective policy planning and decision-making in morality promotion. For instance, the National Economic and Social Development Council has already incorporated moral survey results as key indicators for assessing the nation’s performance across various dimensions.
CMP is committed to developing its information system into Thailand’s central platform for moral data. This initiative aims to provide researchers and stakeholders in moral development with access to comprehensive insights into the nation’s moral landscape. It seeks to engage government agencies, private organizations, researchers, academics, students, and the public, fostering a deeper understanding of moral trends in Thai society.
