Banpu Public Company Limited presented its U.S. Closed-Loop Gas platform at Gastech 2026 under the theme “The Future Flows Circular,” showcasing an integrated value chain connecting natural gas production, power generation, and carbon capture to supply scalable, lower-carbon power.

At Gastech 2026, Banpu Public Company Limited introduced its comprehensive gas-to-power platform, linking natural gas extraction, midstream infrastructure, power generation, and Carbon Capture, Utilization and Sequestration (CCUS). The initiative aims to provide flexible, lower-carbon energy solutions to strengthen energy security and address increasing electricity requirements.

The company executes this strategy in the United States primarily through BKV Corporation, its majority-owned subsidiary. BKV ranks among the top 15 gas-weighted natural gas producers in the U.S. and stands as the largest natural gas producer by gross operated volume in the Barnett Shale, Texas. The business model integrates upstream gas reserves, 1.5 GW of Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power assets in Texas, and three active carbon capture and storage (CCS) facilities into a unified commercial framework.

Mr. Sinon Vongkusolkit, Chief Executive Officer of Banpu Public Company Limited, highlighted that global market demands require practical mechanisms to manage emissions while maintaining base power. He noted that BKV’s closed-loop strategy directly delivers solutions like Carbon-Sequestered Gas (CSG), a Scope 1, 2, and 3 carbon-neutral natural gas product enabled by CCUS operations, supported by upstream reserves and capital-efficient operations to meet market needs.

Development of North Texas Energy Complex and CCS Expansion

To capture rising demand in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) market, BKV is progressing plans for an integrated site known as the North Texas Energy Complex in Jack County, Texas. BKV holds site control over approximately 6,200 acres and has formally submitted generation and load interconnection applications to integrate gas production, power generation, and carbon capture facilities.

The CCUS division currently operates three commercial projects: Barnett Zero, Cotton Cove, and Eagle Ford. Additional sequestration projects, including an expansion into East Texas, are under development to achieve a targeted annual carbon dioxide injection run-rate of approximately 1.5 million metric tons by 2028.

Mr. Sinon explained that the U.S. Closed-Loop Gas platform serves as an essential growth engine for Banpu Group. The coordinated model establishes operational synergies between upstream extraction, CCGT generation, and decarbonization infrastructure, allowing the company to expand natural gas operations while navigating long-term energy transition targets.

Strategic Pillars Under the Energy Symphonics Framework

Banpu operates across four core business pillars under its Energy Symphonics strategy, covering assets across the Asia Pacific region and the United States. Alongside U.S. Closed-Loop Gas, the company develops Next-Gen Mining to supply strategic minerals for batteries, energy storage systems, and industrial infrastructure.

The Power+ division focuses on flexible and integrated generation capacity to resolve power availability bottlenecks. Concurrently, the Future Tech arm implements net-zero decarbonization solutions and invests in artificial intelligence and next-generation energy technologies via Corporate Venture Capital (CVC).
