The Slate Phuket collaborates with international designer Éric Raisina to present Madagascar Dreams: A Journey of Couture & Cuisine. This two-night event, scheduled for the 18th and 19th of September, merges authentic Madagascan gastronomy with an exclusive couture presentation. Ticket prices start from THB 2,000++ across two distinct venues: Rivet at The Slate and Coolies Club in Old Phuket Town.
A Culinary and Couture Collaboration
The event is part of The Slate’s acclaimed BOLD series. Raisina works alongside The Slate’s culinary team to craft a multi-course dining experience utilizing authentic Madagascan ingredients. This gastronomy showcase is directly paired with an intimate presentation of his latest couture collection, bringing the spirit of his homeland to life.
Originally from Madagascar and currently based in Siem Reap, Raisina is recognized for combining Cambodian textile heritage with African influences. His designs honor ancient weaving techniques while drawing inspiration from major couture houses like Yves Saint Laurent, transforming these elements into wearable works of art.
Raisina explains that Madagascar is the starting point of his imagination, noting that its rich colors, textures, and ingredients carry a story he aims to share. “Working with The Slate’s chefs to translate that into flavour and fashion, is something I have never done before. This is not a dinner with a runway show attached, but a journey told in two languages,” states Raisina.
Two Unique Event Experiences
The celebration spans two evenings with distinct atmospheres. On Friday, 18th September, Rivet at The Slate hosts ‘The Culinary Journey: Discover Madagascar’. This session features a chef-led six-course tasting menu where Raisina introduces ingredients such as vanilla, wild pepper, cacao, and seafood. The dining experience is followed by an elegant couture runway accompanied by jazz and Afro-acoustic music.
On Saturday, 19th September, the event moves to Coolies Club in Old Phuket Town for ‘The Celebration: Dance with Madagascar’. This evening offers a more energetic setting with Madagascan bar bites, sharing plates, and street-food dishes. The menu is paired with signature cocktails featuring vanilla, lychee, rum, and tamarind, reinterpreting the island’s flavors in an informal environment.

Tickets for ‘The Culinary Journey: Discover Madagascar’ at Rivet are priced at THB 2,500++ per person for the food and show, or THB 3,500++ including a wine pairing for each course. For ‘The Celebration: Dance with Madagascar’ at Coolies Club, the price is THB 2,000++ per person, covering food, cocktail pairing, and the show.
