Bangkok Cable Co., Ltd. (BCC) has reinforced its market leadership by expanding underground power cable installations to exceed a cumulative total of 720 kilometers between 2023 and 2026. Securing contracts from the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) and the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA), the company added 150 kilometers in 2026 across major metropolitan rail corridors and key provincial commercial zones to support smart infrastructure development.

Nationwide Network Expansion Across Rail Corridors and Provincial Hubs

The expansion spans transit routes across Bangkok and vicinity, including the Purple Line, Orange Line, Green Line, Yellow Line, and Pink Line. In addition, the utility projects extend along primary thoroughfares in key provincial centres such as Chiang Rai, Surin, Phuket, and Trang.

Mr. Pongsapak Nakornsri, Chief Commercial Officer of Bangkok Cable Co., Ltd. (BCC), stated that the company plays a key role in transitioning from overhead lines to underground networks. “With more than 60 years of expertise in manufacturing electrical wires and cables and extensive experience in managing more than 33 large-scale infrastructure projects, BCC has continued to earn the trust of customers across the country,” said Mr. Pongsapak, highlighting the group’s focus on engineering support, customized specifications, and international safety compliance.

Technical Specifications and Testing Certifications

BCC’s manufacturing portfolio delivers low-voltage, medium-voltage, and extra-high-voltage cables reaching up to 230 kilovolts (kV). The production utilizes high-purity copper for electrical conductivity alongside cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation and sheathing compounds.

The group’s 115kV high-voltage and 230kV extra-high-voltage product lines hold international certification from KEMA Labs. All manufactured products comply with Thai Industrial Standards (TIS) and carry the Made in Thailand (MiT) verification from the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI). Quality verification is conducted at BCC’s in-house Extra High Voltage Testing Center, an accredited facility operating under ISO/IEC 17025 and international IEC guidelines.

Future Bidding Plans and Urban Grid Reliability

Addressing the structural impact of grid modernization, Mr. Pongsapak noted that underground systems reduce disruption risks associated with severe weather, storms, and external accidents while stabilizing distribution for digital technologies and rail networks. “As Smart Cities continue to expand and Thailand’s economy continues to grow, we will continue investing in energy innovation to elevate the standards of Thailand’s wire and cable industry to the international level,” Mr. Pongsapak added.

Thailand continues to evaluate subsequent underground electrification phases, encompassing corridors across the Thonburi area and further segments along the Orange Line. BCC confirmed plans to participate in upcoming state bidding rounds as part of its pipeline across national utility and infrastructure development programs.
