PM Anutin Vows Iron-Fist Policy Against Corruption at PACC 18th Anniversary

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul spearheads the 18th anniversary of the PACC, demanding a proactive, transparent, and “name-blind” crackdown on state corruption to boost investor confidence.

The New Era of Accountability: “Power of Faith, Power to Hunt Corruption”

The Office of Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) celebrated a momentous milestone on Friday, January 23, 2026, marking 18 years of relentless pursuit against graft in the Thai bureaucracy. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who also serves as the Minister of Interior, presided over the official ceremony held at the IMPACT Forum, Muang Thong Thani. Under the resonant theme “Power of Faith, Power to Hunt Corruption,” the event served as a high-level strategic platform to reinforce the government’s commitment to cleaning up the public sector.

During his keynote address, Prime Minister Anutin emphasized that the PACC is the cornerstone of public trust in the Thai government. He noted that corruption remains the primary concern for more than half of the Thai populace, suggesting that the fight against it must not only be continuous but must evolve with sophisticated tactics. The Prime Minister’s presence underscored a significant shift toward a more aggressive and systematic management of corruption cases, ensuring that no legacy backlogs remain to hinder the country’s progress.

The Prime Minister further articulated a strict “name-blind” policy—judging cases solely on behavior rather than personal status or political affiliation. He issued a stern warning that any state official found involved in serious disciplinary misconduct or using their authority for political gain would face the maximum penalties under criminal law. By demanding absolute non-interference and judicial fairness, the administration aims to elevate Thailand’s reputation on the global stage, fostering an environment where integrity is the standard rather than the exception.

Strategic Evolution and Global Integration for National Competitiveness

Mr.Bhumivisan Kasemsook, Secretary General of Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) of Thailand detailed the organization’s legal and structural evolution, highlighting the 2025 amendment to the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Measures Act. This legislative upgrade, published in the Royal Gazette on February 18, 2025, significantly bolsters the PACC’s authority to investigate misconduct and streamline anti-graft operations. The reform is a direct response to the need for a more efficient mechanism to handle the complexities of modern public sector malpractice, ensuring the commission remains agile.

Beyond domestic enforcement, the PACC has expanded its reach to protect international interests and stimulate the national economy. The establishment of the “Service Driving Center for Investors and Foreigners” is a landmark initiative designed to resolve grievances for businesses affected by the actions of state officials. By removing bureaucratic hurdles and potential extortion points, the PACC is playing a vital role in securing a pro-investment climate, particularly within the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), where a pilot coordination center has already been launched.

To further align Thailand with international standards, the PACC is actively pursuing membership in the United Nations GlobE Network and the OECD. Secretary-General Bhumivisan revealed a comprehensive five-year action plan specifically designed to improve Thailand’s ranking on the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI). This proactive stance involves collaborating with over 260 network groups nationwide to cultivate a culture of transparency that resonates with both local citizens and the international community.

Honoring Excellence: The Vanguard of Integrity in Public Service

A highlight of the 18th-anniversary event was the prestigious award ceremony, where the Prime Minister presented plaques of honor to eight outstanding PACC officials for the year 2025. These awards recognize individuals who have demonstrated exceptional courage and adherence to the rule of law in their respective fields of enforcement, prevention, and support.

In his closing remarks to the awardees, Prime Minister Anutin urged all PACC staff to remain steadfast against influence or pressure. He outlined three guiding principles for their future service: the protection of the nation’s core institutions, a commitment to democratic governance, and a strict adherence to the rule of law and good governance. By celebrating these “Corruption Hunters,” the government hopes to inspire a new generation of public servants to operate with transparency, accountability, and the courage to serve the public interest above all else.
