The Ministry of Defence, Advanced Info Service (AIS), and the Digital Government Development Agency (DGA) have partnered to launch the Cyber Resilience and Artificial Intelligence Capability Development Program for Armed Forces Personnel and Their Families, an initiative designed to establish a digital-ready force and reinforce Thailand’s digital defense infrastructure.
Nationwide Rollout Across Military Branches and Learning Platforms
The collaborative program provides structured digital education through dedicated digital channels and on-site deployments across military units in Thailand’s four regions, encompassing the Royal Thai Army, Royal Thai Navy, and Royal Thai Air Force. Military personnel and government officers will study via the DGA platform, which integrates the AIS Aunjai Cyber: AI Literacy curriculum into the state workforce framework, while their family members and the public can access the training directly through the AIS Aunjai Cyber system.
Lieutenant General Adul Boonthamcharoen, Minister of Defence, stated that technology is playing an expanding role in data management, operational procedures, strategic decision-making, and national security. He noted that the ministry is advancing its Digital Defense policy by cultivating personnel capability alongside data-driven and AI-driven organizational transformation under the “Four Opportunities” framework. The initiative targets multiple tiers of personnel, ranging from general users and advisers to system developers and executives steering AI adoption, in order to construct what he termed an intellectual arsenal against emerging cyber risks.
Digital Government Integration and Skills Ecosystem
Courses administered by the Thailand Digital Government Academy (TDGA) focus on core proficiencies, including AI literacy, data governance, and AI ethics. Armed forces personnel are eligible to obtain an online certificate upon completing the specialized curricula on the Digital Government Learning Platform via tdga.dga.or.th.
Mrs. Airada Luangvilai, Senior Executive Vice President and Acting President & CEO of the DGA, indicated that developing human capability is central to the broader public-sector transition. She emphasized that this tripartite program equips military personnel to effectively apply data systems, understand technological risks, and support the operational evolution toward an AI-ready defense establishment.
Aligning with this view, Ms. Kantima Lerlertyuttitham, Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Corporate Officer at AIS, affirmed that national readiness relies heavily on the population’s competency to apply artificial intelligence safely and productively. She explained that AIS Academy is leveraging its digital skills framework under the “Think Ahead for Thais” mission to help build a durable AI skills ecosystem and support long-term national competitiveness.
