Short-form mobile video platform TikTok has expanded its national anti-scam initiative in Thailand by launching #ThaisAware Season 3 on August 20, 2026, under the theme “Stay Alert. Stay Ahead of Digital Threats.” The platform has integrated a coalition of 13 government and civil society organizations to deliver targeted digital safety content to an estimated 50 million Thai users.

The alliance welcomed the Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) from the Ministry of Industry as its newest partner. TISI joins 12 returning organizations, including the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES), ETDA, Cofact, OCPB, CIB, TCC, BOT, SEC, FDA, NCSA, DSI, and CCIB.

Strategic Expansion Across Three Defense Layers

The collaborative effort centers on delivering actionable educational content across a structured “Three-Layer Digital Shield”. The first layer, led by MDES, CIB, NCSA, and the Anti Online Scam Operation Center (AOC 1441), focuses on early threat detection, deepfake awareness, and rapid intervention workflows.

The second layer, driven by TISI, ETDA, FDA, OCPB, CCIB, and TCC, provides consumer verification guidelines to screen product standards, vendor certifications, and non-compliant goods. The third layer, overseen by BOT, SEC, DSI, and Cofact, tackles unauthorized digital fund transfers and complex investment fraud schemes.

“MDES is delighted to join forces with TikTok and all 13 coalition partners to continue the #ThaisAware initiative into its third season, aiming to combat online crime proactively,” said Mr. Chaichanok Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society (MDES). “Thanks to the united efforts of all sectors, we have achieved a meaningful reduction in scammers by more than 50%.”

User Engagement, Gamification, and Platform Security

The initiative builds on historical reach, progressing from 3.4 billion views in Season 1 to over 17 billion views in Season 2. Alongside content distribution, Season 3 introduces interactive components, including creator-led educational clips and a dedicated “Safe or Scam” in-app gamification filter to build scam-detection habits.

“Under the ’13 Heroes’ concept, we are leveraging the specialized expertise of each agency to produce deep-dive, high-quality safety media, aiming to deliver this knowledge directly to over 50 million Thai users,” said Mrs. Chanida Klyphun, Director of Public Policy and Government Relations for SEA at TikTok.

The campaign is supported by platform-level controls for users under 18, featuring automatic default privacy configurations and screen-time management tools to maintain youth digital protection.
